Always Keep A Paper Trail

Always Keep a Paper Trail

After someone tells you something important, send them a 3 sentence e-mail

Here are some examples:

Sentence one:
  • I appreciate you spending the time to coordinate x with me today.
      -or-
  • I appreciate you helping me today.

Sentence two:
  • To verify, x will take place on month/day/year at time o'clock.
      -or-
  • I/we will have x done by month/year.

    Sentence three:
    • Please inform me if there are any changes.

Always make it seem like you are trying to verify that the information you got is correct.

Do not make it look like you are trying to keep anyone held accountable because people need to feel trusted. Instead, show that you want to hold yourself accountable.

Whenever you or someone signs a form, take a picture of it with your cell phone or make a physical copy.
